Get Lit(erary)

Luis, Jenn, Mark, Vickie (my roommate), and I volunteered at the 2018 San Antonio Book Festival on Saturday, April 7th. We had signed up to work in the Young Adult area, but when we arrived, they told us that a university had answered a last-minute call for volunteers and while they’d be happy to have us, we ultimately weren’t needed. Undeterred, we marched back to Volunteer Check-In and asked for a new assignment.

Jenn and Vickie were whisked off to run the information booth, where they gave out directions and free books. Mark, Luis, and I were sentenced assigned to the children’s area, where we explained games and helped with crafts.

Before and after our shift, we explored the Book Festival and found Fiesta medals, food trucks, D&D, and even the Sorting Hat! After a misadventure with missing keys, we celebrated the end of a successful raid with dinner and a movie.

Idunn’s Festival

This weekend we had a wonderful time at Sherwood Forest Faire celebrating Idunn’s spring festival! Peter spearheaded the raid.

Joe and Peter built us our new tap wall, boasting six taps as well as brought the mead and cider brewed weeks before.

Overall, it was a success. We came away from the event lighter on alcohol, but richer in friends. As it should be.

Our next raid is planned for March 23rd – Baldur’s Bangarang!

Kerrville Scouting Trip

Trisha and a few bold members of the clan decided to visit a neighboring renaissance faire in Kerrville, Texas. What they found was a small, but charming faire. At this time, it looks to be without a large camp ground, but it is reported that there are some fun vendors!

It’s worth a day trip to visit. Check out photos here or on the photos page here.
