FAQs

How do you decide who gets to be a member?

We are a very welcoming group! We enjoy having guests in our camp and getting to know new people, and camping as a guest allows you to get to know us and decide if we are a good fit for you. If you are interested in joining our group, then please chat with one of our members or one of our elders while camping with us! Invitations for membership are extended to our interested guests after one year with the recommendation of an existing member, with a formal induction ceremony to welcome new members during our annual Baldur’s Bangarang Banquet at Sherwood Forest Faire each Spring.

Do you have dues to pay?

We do have dues, because the clan covers most of your food and beverage outside of faire for the weekend, as well as some small prizes and other incidentals. For us, its about $20 per weekend per person to break even for 2 breakfasts, one dinner, and our tap wall.

Do you require members to wear any special garb?

No. Our clan is Norse themed, and we’ve got lots of stuff around the theme, but we don’t have any garb requirements, and only a couple people dress specifically viking

What does it take to remain an active member?

To be an active member, you have to attend one event per year and pay dues for that event. If you don’t, you move to ‘alumni’ status until you come back.

What Faires do you attend?

We have attended TRF, Sherwood, and Scarborough. Our clan is particularly active at Sherwood Forest Faire.

We also do a bunch of service projects and side fun throughout the year, like pub crawls and meetups!

Are you adult themed or family friendly?

We are adult oriented due to our homebrew beer/cider tap wall, but we don’t have the more adult x-rated themes or a hard liquor bar. We also have at least one family friendly weekend per faire.
