Nine Heirs volunteered at the 2019 San Antonio Book Festival on Saturday, April 6th. Remembering that we’d wanted more time to explore the festival last year before going on shift, we all arrived early so we’d have time to stop by the food trucks, peruse the literary-themed merchandise, spin the prize wheel, snap some group pics with a snazzy Instagram frame, and chat with vendors.
Some of our group checked in at the volunteer booth early and were immediately put to work. The rest of us arrived on time and were sent off on various assignments – the clan then spent the afternoon handing out free books, teaching kids about D&D, running the Information Booths, and shushing unruly audience members. Happily, we also had time to play games at the Whataburger booths and check out the karaoke tent!
After the Festival closed down, we made our way to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co on the River Walk to celebrate both a job well done and the (slightly belated) birthday of David Paul.
All in all, it was a wonderful raid, and I can’t wait to do it again next year!
