The Odining: Harry Potter and the Tent of Secrets

The Heirs of Asgard returned to Texas Renaissance Festival November 8th – 11th for our second annual House Cup.

Heirs began to arrive Friday afternoon/evening, and a few of us wandered over to the Vault 39 camp to help them celebrate Reclamation Day. For the rest of the evening, we enjoyed the potluck dinner and good conversation around the fire.

Saturday morning, after everyone had eaten a wonderful breakfast and taken many group photos, we headed into Faire and the competition began! Students spent the day completing various quests, which required them to, among other things, search for the Chamber of Secrets, educate Muggles on the use of a rubber duck, and perform acts of kindness. Extra credit and prizes were earned by “attending classes” at Falcon’s Heath, the Joust, and Closing Ceremony.

That evening, dinner was served by Jenn and the house elves. Extra points were given out on participation. Then awards were after. After reviewing everyone’s submissions, it was time to announce the winners! Two Houses successfully completed every quest on the list (Ravenclaw and Slytherin), and Ravenclaw won the House Cup. This year’s MVPs were Stratton (Ravenclaw), David (Slytherin), Josh K (Gryffindor), and John Hurley (Hufflepuff). New prizes for this year were the two Headmaster’s Choice Awards, which went to Lyndsey, for her attempt to find Platform 9¾, and Adam, for speaking Parseltongue.  Honorable mentions and badges were handed out as well. The rest of the tank shirts were given out after the awards.

Until next year,
Headmasters Trisha & Golden
