The Odining: House Cup Edition

The witches and wizards of Hogwarts – uh, Heirs of Asgard – gathered at Texas Renaissance Festival in early November (the 9th-11th) to compete in the clan’s first annual House Cup.

Friday night was eventful, with most of the clan spending the evening at a neighboring camp’s karaoke party, Golden breaking – yes, breaking! – her foot, and Brew Crew debuting their non-alcoholic butterbeer (pro tip: combine it with the lingonberry cider for a tasty alcoholic version!).

Saturday morning, the games began! Students made their way into Faire to see if they could complete a list of epic quests, which included tasks such as defeat a dragon, have tea with a princess, take a flying lesson, and become part of Dumbledore’s Army. Students also had the chance to win individual prizes by “attending classes” at Falcon’s Heath, the Joust, and Closing Ceremony.

Once back in camp, the Headmasters scored everyone’s quest lists. Hufflepuff won the House Cup (!!!), and each team had at least one member who successfully checked off every item on the list, which put them in the running to be their House’s MVP. Ultimately, Ashley (Hufflepuff), PJ (Gryffindor), David (Slytherin), and Sandi (Ravenclaw) walked away with the MVP trophies. Additional honors included Best Photo (Mike, for Defeating a Dragon) and Most Points by an Individual (PJ).

It was a wonderful weekend, and we’d like to give a shout-out to Chef Jenn for coming in on Saturday, despite her illness and the cold, to keep us all fed!

Your Headmasters,
Laura, Lord of Relics &
Trisha, Lady of Goodwill
